In 2008, the Northwest Missouri Workforce Development Board recognized Mo-Kan Regional Council’s quality work and contracted with the organization to provide workforce development services to adult customers in Andrew, Buchanan, Clinton and DeKalb counties. Today, Mo-Kan continues to assist our Missouri Job Center customers in finding quality jobs. The Missouri Job Center also works with Kansas residents and employers.

Adult and dislocated worker financial assistance is available to participants in training at a variety of schools, including junior and technical colleges and universities. Additional resources, including Missouri’s Department of Workforce Development, on-the-job training and apprenticeship programs are accessed to connect job-ready customers to employers.  

Along with assisting our customers in these areas, we also provide supportive services that help with overcoming barriers to employment. Benefits may include travel reimbursement, auto repairs, childcare and various supplies needed to be successful in the classroom or on a job.

Mo-Kan has many partners that are either housed in the Missouri Job Center or come to the center to meet with customers; these include:

The primary goal and mission at the job center is to connect skilled and qualified people with quality jobs. In 2017 the job center served over 9,614 job seekers, with well over 75 percent  (or 7,211) receiving training, job search assistance and eventually jobs at Johnson Controls, Hillyard Industries, Sealed Air and many more area businesses.

Services offered at the job center are provided free-of-charge throughout the year and cover a range of skill development opportunities for customers:

• Resume and cover letter writing

• Interviewing techniques

• Computer skills

• Application processes

• Job searching and networking

• Career exploration

• Veteran’s employment workshop

• National Career Readiness Certificate
  All of these workshops are available at no cost to the customer and held throughout the year.
