Jon originally joined Mo-Kan Regional Council in January 2005 through an internship program offered by Missouri Western State University. He became a part of the team as a Loan Officer upon graduation in June 2006; and in October 2009, he became the Senior Loan Officer. Jon holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. His primary responsibilities include working with entrepreneurs in the Mo-Kan region and connecting them to the SBA 504 and 7(a) loan programs and the revolving loan fund (RLF).

Kathy began as an intern with Mo-Kan in early 2015. After graduation from Missouri Western State University, she started full-time as a loan officer and Brownfield Coordinator. Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance and Management and a minor in Economics. She grew up in Cameron, Missouri. Her hobbies include fishing and spending time with her family.

Gary joined Mo-Kan Regional Council in February 2005, working primarily with the 504 Loan Program. In April of 2007, he assumed the responsibilities of Mo-Kan’s Fiscal Officer. His previous experience includes 14 years as an accountant in the non-profit environment and 15 years in the restaurant business. Gary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Missouri Western State University. His primary responsibility is to maintain the accounting system for Mo-Kan Regional Council, Mo-Kan Development, Inc., and the Circle of HOPE program. He is also involved in the Mo-Kan loan programs.

Rebecca Thacker is a Nodaway County native and after twenty years away (living in other states and abroad) she has returned to the area. Her background includes work experience in local government, non-profit and education. Thacker's undergraduate degree is from Northern Arizona University and she is nearing completion of her master's degree in Community and Economic Development from Pennsylvania State University. She has also completed a certificate program in renewable energies.

Janice joined Mo-Kan Regional Council in September 2008, coming from from the Missouri Career Center in Kansas City where she worked for the Full Employment Council. Janice supervises five Mo-Kan staff and 11 state employees. Her primary duties are to assure that the functions of the Next Generation Career Center model is carried out daily in a smooth and professional manner conducive to the job seekers, employers, and community members that seek our services on a regular basis.

Janis joined Mo-Kan in July 2010, coming from the Community Action Partnership where she worked with the Head Start Program for 12 years and Employment and Training for 14 years. Janis is on the Skills Team and her primary duties include Skills Team Leader where she oversees a team of four staff members, WIA enrollments, payment vouchers, and Missouri Employment and Training Programs. She is also an administrator of Workkeys assessments.

Erica joined Mo-Kan in October 2014, coming from American Family Insurance where she worked as a Policy Processor. Erica is cross-trained to cover all teams in the Job Center. Currently on the Skills Team, her primary duties include WIOA enrollments and Missouri Employment and training programs. Other duties include assisting customers with building resumes and cover letters, processing payment vouchers, and administering WorkKeys Assessments.

Laura Brewer received her Bachelor Degree in Special Education Teaching and an Associate’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at MWSU. She has taught at Mid-Buchanan RV and the St. Joseph School District for a total of 13 years. In 2012, she took a temporary position working as the Administrative Coordinator for the DRJP (Disaster Recovery Jobs Program) through Mo-Kan at the Missouri Career Center. In this position she coordinated participants with job duties, monitored job sites, reviewed bi-weekly timesheets, and met with the U.S. Department of Labor, Northwest Regional Council of Governors, MO State auditors, and other local officials. Laura was fortunate to become employed at the Missouri Career Center in December 2012 as a Career Counselor. Laura has had the opportunity to Working with clients in the areas of; Welcome, Skills, and Jobs. Currently she is the OJT (On the Job Training) Lead Person. In this position, Laura utilizes OJT NEG grants which provide on-the-job-training opportunities to many unemployed individuals while building the capacity of the workforce investment system and assisting in economic recovery. OJT participants are given a chance to develop applicable occupational skills while earning a paycheck.Employers participating in OJT program receive partial reimbursement to offset the extraordinary cost of training workers. OJT assists workers become proficient in needed skills quickly, encouraging employers to hire workers sooner than perhaps initially planned, facilitating private sector hiring and spurring economic growth.
