Business Resiliency and Recovery Workshop


Business Resiliency Workshop What: Mo-Kan, in cooperation with Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments (NWMORCOG) and American Red Cross, will host a Business Resiliency and Recovery workshop. The event will offer training and information for businesses and organizations regarding preparing for, responding to and recovering from a disaster. The workshop will consist of two sessions featuring experts from the field of business recovery and disaster preparedness.

In addition to the workshop, the American Red Cross will offer participants the opportunity to complete FREE Ready Rating Program training. This program is a web-based and membership program designed to help businesses, organizations and schools become better prepared and sooner recovered for disasters.

Featured Speakers: Workshop presenters are recognized leaders in the fields of emergency and disaster preparedness. Presenters have real-world disaster-recovery and operations experience.

Rob O' Brian, CEcD, President of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in telecommunications, and minors in journalism and political science. Since the May 22, 2011, tornado that devastated one-third of Joplin, O'Brian has been at the forefront of the recovery efforts by amassing resources for the business community to ensure that businesses can rebuild and thrive in the community.

Danielle B. Carder is the Individual and Community Preparedness Specialist at the American Red Cross Kansas City Region. Danielle received her MSc in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Now she is working with neighbors, community groups, businesses, churches, schools, emergency managers and non-profits.

Who Should Attend: Large and small businesses, schools, government officials, emergency management directors, developers, faith-based organizations and non-profits, as well as concerned individuals.
